Traps and invention.

Postby deneb3525 » Tue Jul 21, 2009 8:35 pm

What skill are traps built with? Invention mentions that it may be nessary to build traps, and the traps skill just says that making more traps just requires a crafting recipe. However, the bluebook states that traps are researched with the traps skill and the Q1 trap does not require any crafting skill.

So, do you need invention *and* traps to make anything greater then Q1? or do you need invention *OR* traps? Or is it you need Traps and *some* crafting skill?

You need a recipe to make traps, which requires crafting skills.

So invention is needed, traps are needed to arm the trap once its made.

humm. ok....

How does a person go about pricing an invention? Do you use the enchanting rules as a base? Or is it something totaly up to plot?

(so a poisen trap would be base 3 * 20 (rechargable) for 60silver or 6 gold. with a posible recipy of 3 Q3wood 2 Q3 metal 3 Q3 herbs and 4q1 herbs?)

Or would this example be more expensive because its being made with invention and not enchantment?

Or does invention only allow the itemes listed in the bluebook?

Generally speaking, you would use the enchanting rules as a guideline, however invention is not intended to duplicate enchanting and certain recipes may not be approved.

Public History: The supposed "son" of Aendaryn, Salaris is the leader of the Order of the Silver Dawn, a branch of the Paladins of Laos. He is known for carrying Seiken Tae'lien, a legendary holy blade - or perhaps a very convincing reproduction?
