As Live Effects has grown so has my understanding about what is best for the community.
I am seeing many people with wonderful ideas and philosophies. I also see a great amount of discussion in the scene about which view is best. In truth, none of them are the best. Each person has their individual concepts and ideals all their own, and many people want to grow them in to something more than an idea.
As a result of this I have decided to change my direction and not focus on supporting chapters and growing Live Effects as a cohesive entity, but as an umbrella and incubator for events in the region. My game own events, The Wyrd of Avilion, will still run, but I will also support the operations of other groups. In fact, the other groups will have a higher priority on my time then my own activities.
Currently the following Live Effects chapters exist:
Angel's Tear
ApocaLARP
Beyond the Veil
Laneque's Chaos
Steampunk
Wyrd of Avilion
What does this mean for you the participants?
1) Consistency - Although games run under Live Effects can use different rule sets, they all must use the same calls. As a result of these similar methods of communication moving between games is much easier, as most things coming at you will be equally understood from game to game.
2) Opportunity - You will now be kept up to date for multiple events run by multiple organizations. As a result you\'ll be more aware and if you want to game, there will be more things occurring that you can easily keep pace with. Live Effects can be a central repository for a large group of gaming in the region.
3) Growth - All groups under Live Effects gain opportunities to grow, easier access to materials and props, stronger bargaining power in obtaining sites, a larger community to grow their events from, unified insurance, and much more. All of this is gained without sacrificing individuality, control, or freedom. A designed under Live Effects has complete control and total ownership of their activities. Strength in numbers is a great thing.
What does a designer have to adhere too?
Interested in starting a short campaign? Or developing something long term? Be it in California or the Carolinas we can make it work.
A designer is expected to adhere to the immutables which, are as follows:
1) A designer must not serve alcohol at events, participants outside staff and the designer may bring their own if you permit. The designer may never partake in alcohol during an event they are running. This is an insurance requirement.
2) You must have an up to date safety kit on site to handle medical emergencies, one is available on loan if needed. We recommend you have someone trained in first aid on site.
3) Designers must pay a ten dollar fee per person, per event to cover insurance costs and administrative expenses.
4) Each participant must sign the standard Live Effect Liability form, if they are under 18 a guardian must sign the waiver as well. No credit for a event should be granted to a participant if they did not sign in. This is traditionally known as the sign up sheet at an event.
5) The primary calls, must be utilized as they apply to your system. Overall these are primarily the calls listed on the back of the normal Live Effects rule set, and the three count rule.
6) The rules of the game themselves may be changed (provided the calls remain the same) as the individual running the event sees fit, Live Effects, and no entity of Live Effects may claim possession of any portion of your rules or game design.
7) Welcome players from other Live Effects games and work with them to integrate themselves in to your game as a whole.
8) Treat everyone with respect; obey all local laws and regulations.
9) Complaints about a particular design, or group under Live Effects can be relayed to corporate at plot AT Onlineeffects.com.
10) Support skill points earned at other Live Effects events, and those earned from partner events. It is the option of the designer to accept coupons and Live Effects discounts, although we highly encourage you do so to support our marketing efforts.

Forming a Chapter
Anyone may form a chapter of Live Effects, provided they agree to the designer rules above.
Forming a chapter links you to an active network of events running, a player base eager to participate, and insurance, prop, and support opportunities. Regardless if you want to run a single event, tell a story for a year, or be a long term chapter, we can support you and your goals. Simply send an email with a quick summary of your idea, a statement saying you agree to the designer rules, and any ideas you may have on the size and scope of your event. plot@onlineeffects.com is the place to let us know!
Designer Status
A designer retains their status as a designer if they have run an event within the last 12 months.
