Episode 2 Venue Poll

Postby Sir Rondar » Sun Jan 24, 2010 11:28 pm

Hello, everyone:

Episode 2 takes place indoors. In the past, we've run indoor events at UCI, which we're looking into. We're also trying to get a workable venue at CSUN, but to be honest, I don't think that either of these are going to come through for us. I spoke with my plot committee, and we've come up with a few alternatives. We can run episode 2 at Lawler Lodge, which has cabins that can be utilized as the rooms of the Temple of Fire. We can run Episode 2 at Malibu Creek, and build a temple complex out of tarp structures/easy-ups, like was done for Rip Tie, Cut Toy Man (which would be epic, but extremely labor intensive). Finally, we can run episodes 2 and 3 back-to-back at Josepho, but instead of going Friday evening to Sunday morning like we usually do, we would go Saturday morning to Sunday evening.

What do you all think? Does anyone have other ideas for indoor venues that satisfy the game requirements? (Need many separate rooms to run different challenges in.)

As much as I wanted to say Malibu Creek, since it's the closest for me, I chose Lawler for ease on the game staff. =)

I haven't been to Josepho yet to have any ideas on that location.
Though taking off a Monday to recover from a game ending Sunday night might be better than taking a Friday off. LOL

Josepho is nice because it's much closer for most people than Lawler, it has lots of open fighting space, and has some nice trails to run a line course game to connect episodes 2 and 3.

My vote goes to Josepho, while it would require a bit of driving time, it seems like it would be far less work to get set up.

Depending on how much physical room you need for each encounter/scene, I think Lawler might work well. The main cabin has lots of rooms, and with a few tarps could be easily made to feel dungeon-like.
