First off: HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! well, almost...

On to the matter of the post: I was talking to High Overlord Bluheim, and I thought it would be a good idea to compile a b-day database, so you can get recognized on your birthday. THis is totally optional, but all you need to do to sign up is post your name (character or real life), and birth date. With that information, you will receive a nice birthday post on your special day. Feel free to comment or make recommendations, but I think it is always nice to be recognized on your birthday.

Signing off till next time,
Dan.

Once again we find ourselves enmeshed in the Holiday Season, that very special time of year when we join with our loved ones in sharing centuries-old traditions such as trying to find a parking space at the mall. We traditionally do this in my family by driving around the parking lot until we see a shopper emerge from the mall, then we follow her, in very much the same spirit as the Three Wise Men, who 2,000 years ago followed a star, week after week, until it led them to a parking space.

People can't concentrate properly on blowing other people to pieces if their minds are poisoned by thoughts suitable to the twenty-fifth of December.

From a commercial point of view, if Christmas did not exist it would be necessary to invent it.

Next to a circus there ain't nothing that packs up and tears out faster than the Christmas spirit.

Oh look, yet another Christmas TV special! How touching to have the meaning of Christmas brought to us by cola, fast food, and beer... Who'd have ever guessed that product consumption, popular entertainment, and spirituality would mix so harmoniously?

In the old days, it was not called the Holiday Season; the Christians called it 'Christmas' and went to church; the Jews called it 'Hanukka' and went to synagogue; the atheists went to parties and drank. People passing each other on the street would say 'Merry Christmas!' or 'Happy Hanukka!' or (to the atheists) 'Look out for the wall!'

The Supreme Court has ruled that they cannot have a nativity scene in Washington, D.C. This wasn't for any religious reasons. They couldn't find three wise men and a virgin.

I once bought my kids a set of batteries for Christmas with a note on it saying, toys not included.

Anyone who believes that men are the equal of women has never seen a man trying to wrap a Christmas present.

"The one thing women don't want to find in their stockings on Christmas morning is their husband."
Joan Rivers.

Christmas at my house is always at least six or seven times more pleasant than anywhere else. We start drinking early. And while everyone else is seeing only one Santa Claus, we'll be seeing six or seven."
W.C. Fields

"I never believed in Santa Claus because I knew no white man would be coming into my neighborhood after dark."
Dick Gregory

"Dear Lord, I've been asked, nay commanded, to thank Thee for the Christmas turkey before us... a turkey which was no doubt a lively, intelligent bird... a social being... capable of actual affection... nuzzling its young with almost human- like compassion. Anyway, it's dead and we're gonna eat it. Please give our respects to its family... "
Berke Breathed "

And now a nice reminder from our "gay little friends" http://www.photonmoon.com/photography/index.php?album=Wyrd+Xmas/z+is+for+zombiesâ„‘=1.jpg . Hopefully this is something that will never be forgotten, no matter how much brain bleach is used. I do not currently know all the authors, but feel free to comment and I will put up your name for all to shame you. Just kidding.

Also, speaking of gay little things (as you would know if you CLICKED THE LINK a kind reminder from our sponsors) the GNOME ROAD event is coming up in MALIBU. See previous posts for details.

And just so you know, an immediate follow up post of witty christmas comments will immediately follow this one.

EDIT- fixed the link. Now you can actually watch it, as opposed to seeing the ending only. Sorry for anyone who had the link clicking ruined by that little problem.

If I may direct your attention to the left, you will see that some of the division/chapters of Live Effects are up. Make sure to check them for information and dates we might miss. We know we are amazing, but sometimes even we miss things. Seriously, I know it is hard to believe.

Anyways, make sure to check constantly for important updates and posts.

MID WEEK UPDATE- (with seth green!)

http://www.meetup.com/LiveEffects/calendar/11766544/ Next upcoming LARP event is currently open for RSVP. An adventure of gnomes, maigc, "phat gnome loot", and gnomes... did I mention there were gnomes?

and... one week later there is http://www.meetup.com/LiveEffects/calendar/11468156/, the 3rd Laneque Event. This is going on at Lawler Alpine, the beautiful and spacious area that it is... (writers note: this just means there is room for more dead bodies! *evil laugh*)

And finally, the upcoming (3 months) events are rounded up by http://www.meetup.com/LiveEffects/calendar/11468145/?from=list&offset=0, Ian Sorensons Ice Village. This one is going to definitely be worth going to...unless it gets to cold, in which case it will REALLY be an ice village. Get it? Huh? Huh?

(the previous author has been shot for his humorless jokes. A new one will be reinstalled momentarily. please hold...)

Overall, these next events are definitely worth going to, and missing even one of them is an oversight on your part. Also, remember to get tickets for Wyrdcon. Wyrdcon is going to be a great event, so make sure you buy tickets: they might sell out soon. Seriously, buy them.

Ladies and Gentlemen,

After numerous people stating they did not like the front web site it has not been completely changed.

We've moved to a blog format for the chapters and websites.

As a result of this all chapters will also be receiving their own personal blogs to provide announcements and manage/format as they see fit.

However in the mean time take a look to the left, and you'll see links to all your favorite locations.

We'll be updating more but in the mean time make this your Live Effects starter page, so you can see all the pages and news!
